Remove Stretch Marks

Stretch marks are also known as striae and are caused by small tears in the dermis layer of your skin. They often have a red or purplish color and a somewhat shiny appearance. The good news is that it is possible to remove stretch marks or at least fade them dramatically. There are many treatments that are currently being used in the removal of stretch marks ranging from home remedies to surgery.

Home remedies are popular as they are convenient and relatively cheap. They are not always effective however. Things such as cocoa butter or aloe vera are very good moisturizers and do have a use in the prevention of stretch marks, but are not very successful in removing them. Various stretch mark creams and lotions are commercially available, such as Trilastin SR and Revitol, which are said to visibly improve the appearance of stretch marks over a period of several weeks. They are quick and easy to apply and have many satisfied customers.

Cosmetic procedures are increasing in popularity as more women seek a quicker, more dramatic result. Microdermabrasion is where the outer layer of the skin is removed through either chemical or physical means in order to stimulate the growth of new skin cells. Laser therapy works in a similar fashion, stimulating the production of skin cells through the application of intense laser light to the affected area. The most invasive medical procedure would have to be a tummy tick, where the affected skin is surgically removed by a surgeon.

It is possible to remove stretch marks and regain your confidence in your appearance. It is recommended to initially try a stretch mark cream or lotion as good results can often be achieved through these without the added expense and inconvenience of a medical procedure.
